Tone&Texture

Tones and textures can easily be created through the use of many simple techniques as illustrated on the drawing attached.

Simple things such as dots, in concentration or distributed far apart can create different tones. The more concentrated it is the deeper and darker the shade/tone will be. This concept applies to using lines (with many layers) as well as strategic scribbles.

There is a technique called “cross hatching” which I will go into detail on in my next blog.

 

 

I tried to use Cross Hatching in this piece, in the eyebrow, but I was not very successful in achieving that..

Clearly I need some more practise with this kind of technique.
